Are Brass Knuckles Illegal in Tennessee?

In Tennessee, brass knuckles are illegal to carry as a weapon. According to Tennessee Code §39-17-1302, possession of “metal knuckles or similar weapons” is a criminal offense if intended for use.
However, Tennessee does not specifically outlaw owning them as a collector’s item, provided they’re not used in self-defense or violence. Law enforcement may still confiscate them if found in your vehicle or person without cause.
If you live in Tennessee, it’s best to avoid carrying brass knuckles, even if purchased legally online — doing so could result in a weapons charge.
